Frequently asked questions
What is this service called?
It hasn't really got a name. Dunno - Harold?
What does it do?
You can't upload images to Proboards when you are writing a post, so they need to be kept somewhere
else and a link to them inserted into your post. This site stores your images and provides a link you can paste into the
text of your post. The link looks like
, and this site provides a quick and
easy way to include images in your posts.
How do I use it?
When you want to put an image in your post,
- Find it on your PC using File Explorer (yellow folder icon), click and hold the
image icon to pick it up and drag and drop it into the box on the main page.
- Go back to your post and hit CTRL-V or right click and choose
"Paste".
- With Firefox (and possibly some other browsers as well) you need to click
"Add all" to copy the links to your clipboard.
Any top tips?
- Have this site open in one tab while you write your post in another.
When you want to include an image, find it in File Explorer, drag it over
the tab this site is in, wait for the tab to pop to the front and then drop
it in the box.
- In Chrome you can drag and drop an image from the web into the box and
upload that. This doesn't seem to work in Firefox and I'm not sure about
other browsers.
Anything else?
- You can also click on the box to open a file dialogue and choose the image
that way.
- You can upload up to 10 images at once but the combined size of them has
to be less than 5 MB
- "My images" shows what you have uploaded, with the ones that are
currently in your clipboard outlined in blue. Click to add or remove their
links.
Can I see what other people have uploaded, or what I have uploaded
before?
No, this is not an image sharing site. If you aren't sure if you have
uploaded something before, don't worry about it and just upload it again.
The site checks to see if image is already there and copies the original
link to your clipboard if it is.
How long are the images stored for?
There are no plans to delete anything ever. On the other hand, don't use
it to store your will or legal documents etc. There are no guarantees in
life, and this certainly isn't one either.
Does this work on mobile devices?
Yes, but it's not really designed for them and there are apps you can use
that do the same thing, and probably better. This is meant for PC users
using web browsers.
